Purpose
This page explains how a completed in-home or virtual consultation becomes a formal estimate.
Who owns it
Door Expert (Phil).
Trigger
A consultation appointment on /appointments has taken place and the customer is ready to see pricing.
Steps
- Open the opportunity on
/opportunitiesand review the AI internal note and door list from the booking intake. - Go to
/estimateto start the estimate builder. - Build one card per opening (door), matching the multi-door list captured during intake.
- On each opening card, add Necessary Components as required — never call these "adders."
- If the customer needs an immediate repair rather than a full replacement, use the Repair Lane, which requires a $99 deposit.
- Apply the 3-day pricing hold if the customer needs time to decide.
- Review pricing options with the customer: Financing (12 months, 0% interest) first, Full Project (50/50) second, Discounted (100% down) third.
- Save the estimate and confirm it's attached to the opportunity.
Done when
Every opening has a completed card with pricing, and the opportunity's pipeline stage on /opportunities reflects "estimate."
Handoff to
Design Concierge or Door Expert (whoever builds the proposal) for the next step, /help/workflows/estimate-to-proposal.
Common mistakes
- Calling Necessary Components "adders" with the customer — always use the correct term.
- Forgetting to collect the $99 deposit when using the Repair Lane.
- Quoting the pricing hold as longer than 3 days.
- Skipping a door from the original multi-door list, leaving the estimate incomplete.
Warning: /estimate is not page-gated — confirm you are working the correct opportunity before editing, since any signed-in user could technically open the builder.
