Your First Day in YND OS

This page walks you through your first hour in YND OS so you feel oriented before you start touching real customer data.

Step 1: Confirm you can sign in

Make sure your account works and you land on Mission Control (/). If you can't sign in, see Signing In.

Step 2: Confirm your role looks right

Look at your sidebar. Compare it to the Navigation page's breakdown by role. If your role is CSR, for example, you should see Dispatch, Routing, Customers, Opportunities, Payments, Appointments, Schedule, My Schedule, Call Recordings, Communications, and Training — not design tools like Configurator or Imagine.

If something looks off (too much, too little), flag it to your manager right away using Role Assignment Request.

Step 3: Learn the vocabulary

A few terms come up constantly:

  • SAD (Site Assessment Deposit) — the deposit that, once paid, marks an opportunity as sold.
  • Necessary Components — required add-on items on a proposal (never call these "adders").
  • Pipeline stages — an opportunity moves through New Lead → consultation booked → estimate → proposal sent → sold (SAD paid) → site assessment → scope validation → project deposit → manufacturing release → installed.
  • Pricing hold — quoted pricing is held for 3 days.
  • Financing — 12 months, 0% interest, and it's the first payment option customers are offered (before Full Project (50/50) and Discounted (100% down)).

See the Sales Pipeline FAQ for more.

Step 4: Explore your core pages

Depending on your role, spend your first day clicking through (without editing anything) the pages you'll live in daily:

  • CSR: /opportunities, /appointments, /dispatch, /payments
  • Door Expert: /opportunities, /estimate, /workbench, /pricebook, /proposals
  • Project Manager: /field, /projects
  • Dispatcher: /dispatch, /routing, /schedule
  • Manager/Executive: skim most areas, plus /approvals if you handle approvals (not in the sidebar — ask for the link).

Tip: Use search (see Navigation) to look up a real customer record read-only, so the layout feels familiar before you have to act on it.

Step 5: Know where to get unstuck

Step 6: A few honest heads-ups

  • Some pages (like /bookings/new, /estimate, /workbench, /csr-intake) aren't locked down by role yet — just because you can open a page by URL doesn't mean it's part of your job. Stick to what's in your sidebar and what your manager assigns.
  • Communications and Training are visible to everyone, regardless of role.
  • Executive and Admin look the same in the UI, but only Admin manages users and permissions.

Warning: Proposals are immutable once created. If a mistake needs fixing after the fact, it's corrected by reversing ("unselling") and re-issuing — not by editing the original. Keep this in mind before you send anything to a customer.
