What it is
The Estimate builder (/estimate) is where you put together priced options for a customer, opening by opening (a door, a window, etc.). The Price Book (/pricebook) is the underlying catalog of priced products and options that feed the estimate.
Who can use it
Price Book (/pricebook) access: Door Expert, Design Concierge, Manager, Executive.
Warning: /estimate itself is not page-gated — any signed-in user can open it directly by URL, even though it's meant for Door Expert/Design Concierge use alongside a customer or opportunity.
How to get there
/estimate?opportunityId=...&customerId=... (usually launched from an opportunity), and /pricebook for the catalog.
Key screen areas
| Area | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Per-opening cards | Each door/window opening being estimated, with its own line items |
| Necessary Components | Required add-on items for an opening (never call these "adders") |
| Repair Lane | A flat repair service menu (resets, jambs, weatherstripping) instead of a full replacement catalog, with a $99 deposit |
| Version menu | Save/compare estimate versions for the same opportunity |
Price Book (/pricebook) | The catalog of priced products/options used to build estimates |
Step-by-step how-tos
Build an estimate for a new opening
- Open
/estimatefrom the opportunity (so it's tied to the right customer/opportunity). - Add an opening card for each door or window being replaced.
- Choose the product and any Necessary Components required for that configuration.
- Review pricing per opening and in total.
Use the Repair Lane instead of full replacement
- On
/estimate, switch the lane to repair (lane=repair). - Choose from the flat repair service menu instead of the full catalog.
- The $99 deposit applies to repair-lane work.
Save and version an estimate
- Use the version menu on the estimate screen to save your current state.
- You can return later and compare or continue from a saved version tied to the opportunity.
Look up pricing without building an estimate
- Go to
/pricebook. - Browse or search the catalog to check current pricing/options before quoting verbally.
Tips & Warnings
Tip: Always say Necessary Components, not "adders" — it's the accurate term used across the product and by customers.
Warning: Because /estimate isn't gated, don't share estimate links with customers directly — use the proposal flow (Workbench) to generate what the customer actually sees.
Note: A saved estimate feeds into the Proposal Workbench, where items get assigned to openings and warranties before being sent to the customer.
